Match the ACT authority to your duties
The ACT has a staged route from assistant registration to agent licensing. Five core CPP41419 units form the initial assistant training requirement, but further study follows. A full Certificate IV alone does not meet every licence requirement.
- Assistant real estate agent: five core units before applying; five relevant sales or property-management electives within 12 months of first registration. Must be registered and employed by a licensed agent.
- Class 2 real estate agent: specified CPP41419 qualification and at least 12 months of relevant registered experience in the preceding five years.
- Class 1 real estate agent: CPP51122 or CPP51119 agency-management diploma and at least two years of qualifying licensed experience in the preceding five years.
- Property management: authority depends on duties; owners-corporation management has a distinct conditional pathway.
Units, local law and application checks
Assistant core units are CPPREP4001–4005. The additional five electives come from the residential-sales or property-management groups specified in the ACT declaration. Renewal has qualification and experience requirements; the declaration includes at least six months of relevant experience in the preceding three years.

The national qualification has 18 units, including five core units, and no national entry requirements. Class 2 requires the core and listed sales and property-management groups, plus eligible units. Some units appear in both groups: ask for an 18-unit map that does not double-count them.
Assistant and agent applicants must be at least 18 and meet disqualification rules. Assistant applications require training evidence, identity documents, a passport-quality photograph and a police certificate issued within two months of application.

Training must address ACT law. Interstate training needs evidence of relevance, such as a statement of attainment or provider letter. The application process also includes public notification. Allow time for these steps after assessment.
If you intend to work across the NSW border, check both jurisdictions. A national qualification is not automatic permission to perform regulated work anywhere.
Compare study arrangements and the full budget
Check the RTO’s registration and course scope, then confirm its current ACT offer. Request exact units, ACT-law coverage and the enrolment agreement.

Separate provider charges from Access Canberra registration/licence fees. Applications, renewals and terms have different fee entries. Confirm the one matching your authority. No course price, subsidy, intake or total pathway cost has been verified.

Read payment, cancellation and refund terms. Keep the advertised offer, assessment rules and written support promises. ASQA explains student information and concern pathways; it does not decide individual disputes or refunds.
Older qualifications, conditional authorities and interstate arrangements require individual advice. A short advertised course duration is not the experience required for a licence.
